Southend’s new on-loan striker Nat Jarvis is in contention for a starting berth as Southend look to bounce back from two successive defeats at Hereford United.
And the home side have also added to their firepower this week, bringing in former Swansea City striker Guillam Bauza on a free transfer, a player whom manager Simon Davey thinks can be the “missing piece of the jigsaw” for the struggling Bulls, who sit 23rd in the League Two standings.
Davey will however be without centre back Janos Kovacs, a summer target for the Shrimpers, and midfielder Kenny Lunt.
Paul Sturrock has no fresh injury concerns but may choose to shake things up in defence following last week’s calamitous performance against Morecambe. Skipper Craig Easton is still out with a calf problem meaning Michael Timlin will again play at Edgar Street.
