Southend come from behind to beat Hereford

25 Sep

Goals from Barry Corr, Michael Timlin and Blair Sturrock gave Southend a comfortable 3-1 win at Hereford this afternoon.
Blues endured a nightmare start at Edgar Street, going behind after just two minutes to Jamie McQuilken’s strike.
However, Barry Corr levelled from a Sturrock cross before the half hour, and a few minutes into the second half Timlin struck home a free kick to give Southend the lead.
Sturrock completed the scoring at the second attempt after 67 minutes, and Southend held out comfortably with no major scares towards the end.
The result takes Paul Sturrock’s side up to 12th in the League Two standings.
