In a statement to the Southend United official website, Ryan Hall has released a statement expressing his remorse for the actions that led to him receiving a suspended prison sentence today.
Hall said: “I would like to start by saying sorry to the supporters of Southend United – I let everybody down that night.
“In December I made a bad decision and not a moment has gone by since, that I have not regretted the course of action I took.
“I am thankful to the way the chairman, chief executive, manager and my teammates have stood by me during this difficult period in my life.
“The sentence that has been handed down to me is accepted and I will focus on putting something back into the local community that has given so much to me over the past seven months.
“I am fully focused on repaying the loyalty everyone has shown me by working hard on the football pitch to help Southend United gain promotion this season.
“Thanks for your support – it means a lot!”
Hall celebrated the first of his two goals against Gillingham on Tuesday night by lifting his shirt above his head to reveal a t-shirt saying “Thank You”.
