BOSS Paul Sturrock has been impressed with trialist defender Calum Butcher and could offer him a deal with his home town club.
The 20-year-old centre back grew up in Leigh, and was formerly with Southend as a boy.
He has been told by his club Spurs that he will not be kept on and is available as a free agent.
Butcher impressed in his two outings for Graham Coughlan’s reserve side and Sturrock says a decision will be made as to whether to offer him a deal.
However, Blues are likely to face competition from other clubs if they do move for the former Barnet loanee.
Paul Sturrock has wasted no time in starting to plan for next year and has been checking out trialists. He ran the rule over 12 in a recent practise match.
