INTERNET sources have linked Swindon’s Michael Timlin with a return to Roots Hall.
The 26-year-old midfielder spent a couple of months on loan with the Shrimpers last year as cover for injured midfielder Craig Easton.
And he is believed to be on his way out of the County Ground because new boss Paolo Di Canio intends to release the majority of the players out of contract at Swindon, of whom Timlin is one.
Timlin, formerly of Fulham, is an admirer of Paul Sturrock’s managerial ability.
And speaking in today’s Echo, Graham Coughlan confirmed Southend were in transfer talks with two unnamed players, both of whom are keen to join the club.
Timlin made eight appearances while at Roots Hall, scoring a fine free-kick during the 3-1 win at Hereford. He has played eight times for the Republic of Ireland at under 21 level.
