PAUL Sturrock has confirmed that he will be speaking to the agent of Rohan Ricketts to try and sign the 28-year-old after his dazzling display on trial.
The former Spurs, Arsenal and Wolves winger has spent the last few years playing abroad in locations as diverse as Germany, Canada and Moldova.
But it is believed that Ricketts wants to find a club in the UK, and he reportedly got a train down from Coventry to play in last night’s match against Great Wakering Rovers at Burroughs Park.
Ricketts scored a hat-trick, and after impressing the many Southend fans in attendance, Paul Sturrock has immediately moved to try and bring the player to the club on a permanent basis.
Whether a signature can be achieved now depends on the sides agreeing terms, but fans will be hoping the winger can join the side on their tour of Scotland at the weekend.
