STRIKER Liam Dickinson has joined Southend on a one-year deal. Dickinson had earlier this summer signed for Plymouth Argyle, only to leave the Pilgrims within a couple of weeks of signing for “personal reasons”.
Dickinson has endured a turbulent couple of years since leaving Stockport in a big money move for Championship club Derby. He has since played for Huddersfield, Blackpool, Leeds and Brighton.
Off-field problems have allegedly been partly to blame for his unsettled career to date. However, Shrimpers manager Paul Sturrock will keep his fingers crossed that Dickinson has put these behind him and can be a success at Roots Hall.
Full-back Ryan Leonard has also agreed a contract at Southend, putting pen to paper on a deal for the next 12 months.
Jean-Paul Kalala is also the subject of transfer talks this week.
