SOUTHEND could not overcome the sending off of Bilel Mohsni and lost 1-0 at Boundary Park last night.
The fiery Frenchman saw red for two first half fouls – and prompted an angry reaction from his team mates. Peter Gilbert said the side felt “let down” on BBC Essex, and Liam Dickinson issued similar sentiments on Twitter. Mohsni had to be separated from team mates after the game.
Despite a manful display by Blues, the winning goal came from Taylor in the 58th minute.
It leaves Blues’ cup dreams for the season over, perhaps a blessing in disguise with the club still in the frame for automatic promotion to League One.
However, they may have to do it without Mohsni, whose future at the club looks to be in doubt. The player has not been released, but Paul Sturrock and Tara Brady are expected to make a decision on his future soon.
