FREDDY Eastwood has told the Southend Echo that a deal that would bring him back to Southend is nearing completion.
Chairman Ron Martin has been locked in talks with the 28-year-old’s representatives since the end of last season.
Now, Eastwood has told the newspaper that he hopes a deal can be done within the next couple of days.
The striker has attracted interest from elsewhere, with Stevenage believed to be interested in signing the former Welsh international.
However, Eastwood said in an interview he “has not even thought about” going elsewhere.
The striker says the knee problem which held him back during his two-month spell at Roots Hall last season is a thing of the past, and he will be joining in with pre-season training with the rest of the Southend squad when they return at the weekend.
